Valet parking is no longer a luxury. It enhances and qualifies the first impression of any business.Clients welcome the opportunity to valet park their vehicles. When considering valet parking at your business, you should ask your prospective valet parking contractor the following questions.
1.How long has the contractor been in business?
Parking Solutions was founded in 1997 and still provides valet parking to our first client, Polo Towers.Parking Solutions is committed to the Las Vegas market and is locally owned and operated.
2.In – House operations can add to your legal liabilities.Have you compared all of the costs?
There was a time when it was cheaper to do valet “in-house,” but with increased personal injury settlements, Workman’s Compensation Insurance costs, rising medical fees, licensing and permits, litigation costs, and a host of Federal and State requirements, risk management for attendant parking is now a highly specialized field.Parking Solutions handles these concerns as part of our contractual agreement.
3.Does the parking contractor maintain a comprehensive insurance program covering Public Liability, Property Damage, Garagekeeper’s Liability, Bodily Injury and Workman’s Compensation Insurance, and will he name you as “additionally insured” on his policy?
Your agreement with the contractor should have sufficient “hold harmless” limits to protect your business as well as naming you additionally insured for up to $1,000,000.00 on his policy.Litigation as a result of personal injury or Workman’s Compensation claims can seriously damage a healthy business.Parking Solutions includes this insurance as part of your contractual agreement.
4.Does the parking contractor pay his employees with payroll checks taking full and proper deductions?
These tax liabilities could be assigned to you if you are dealing with an “independent contractor.”If attendants are paid in cash, working for “tips only,” having employee tips make up their hourly wage, or treating his employees as “independent contractors,” the parking contractor is in violation of the Nevada Labor Law.A contractor that operates in such a manner would also be in violation of the Federal tax laws. This would cause a significant tax liability for you in addition to the negative publicity to the business.Parking Solutions properly documents and pays each employee according to Federal and State laws taking full and proper deductions.
5.Does the contractor have his own Claims Department to handle damage claims?
If damage claims are sub-contracted or handled by an outside agency, it could be months before your customers’ concerns are addressed. In the meantime, you could be held liable for damages that result from the parking contractor’s negligence.Parking Solutions in-house Claims Department handles any damages quickly and professionally.
